Virtual Women’s Health Clinic: multicultural community engagement
Enliven partnered with Each to help more women from multicultural communities across Victoria learn about and access the Virtual Women’s Health Clinic. The partnership ran between September 2025 and February 2026.
Background
The Virtual Women’s Health Clinic provides free, private care for Victorian women by phone or video. While this makes access to care easier, some women from multicultural communities may need more information or support to learn about the clinic and feel confident using it.
Each wanted more women from multicultural communities to know about the clinic, understand how it works, and feel confident accessing care.
Our approach
Enliven worked alongside community leaders to listen and learn how best to share information about the clinic in culturally appropriate ways. The focus was on improving understanding and supporting community‑led conversations.
Twenty-four community leaders and representatives took part, representing 17 languages.
They told us what mattered most:
Confidential and culturally safe care
Access to female health professionals
Interpreters being available
Clear, easy‑to‑understand information
Simple ways to book appointments
What we delivered
Enliven supported community engagement and awareness of the clinic by:
Holding consultation sessions with multicultural community leaders
Supporting leaders to share information within their communities
Developing information materials in plain language
Translating resources into multiple languages
Creating simple presentation resources for community use
Supporting interviews on multicultural community radio stations
One of the A6 postcards created by Enliven to support awareness of the clinic.
Outcomes and impact
People from multicultural communities made up 10% of clinic users between September and November 2025. This increased to 23% during the community engagement period.
Following the community leader sessions, 100% of participants reported increased awareness of the clinic and confidence in sharing information with their communities.
“I believe the Virtual Women’s Health Clinic is a great initiative and will help so many women to understand the importance of their health and the support available around, which will bring a huge and positive change in their life.”
Funding
The Virtual Women’s Health Clinic is supported by the Victorian Government.
