Enliven, a service of Each, is a not-for-profit organisation focused on plain language, multicultural community engagement and planetary health.

What we do

  • We advocate for, and support the use of plain language across all sectors globally. This includes training, developing resources, converting documents to plain language and being involved in setting international standards.

  • We lead community engagement and strengthening initiatives with our multicultural communities. We promote and strive for health equity for all populations in our region, particularly those facing disadvantage.

  • We lead planetary health literacy work with a focus on multicultural communities. This includes things like helping communities to prepare for weather events. We also lead the Food from Home campaign to encourage edible gardening.

How we work

  • We have strong and trusted relationships with key organisations and stakeholders.

  • We have deep connections with our communities.

  • We understand our diverse communities and their needs, by:

    • building trust and respect

    • valuing their lived experiences

    • maintaining cultural respect and empathy

    • focusing on the strengths of our communities

    • celebrating their successes

  • We have a highly skilled and diverse team.

  • We value and participate in research.

  • We focus on improving the health literacy of our communities, and this underpins everything we do.

Meet the Multicultural Community Engagement Network

The Multicultural Community Engagement Network was established in 2020; an initiative of the Diversity Matters Partnership. The Diversity Matters Partnership (formerly the CALD Communities Taskforce Local Partnership) was is a partnership between the City of Casey, City of Greater Dandenong, Cardinia Shire and Enliven Victoria.

Members of the Network are community leaders who are deeply connected to their communities through local grassroot or larger organisations.

The early work of the Multicultural Community Engagement Network focused on the COVID 19 pandemic response, through funding from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing to assist in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2023, the Network has focused on delivering projects focused on equipping multicultural communities with knowledge and skills to improve their physical, mental, social, economic and environmental health and wellbeing.

The Network meets online once a fortnight, providing a platform for two-way communication, updated from councils as well as opportunities for capacity building by guest speakers from a wide range of organisations.

Enliven also employs a number of short-term casual and volunteer staff to work on identified projects and specialty areas, as required from time to time.
