Plain language

Enliven is an international award‑winning provider of plain language services. For more than seven years, we’ve helped organisations communicate information that is easy to find, understand and use.

Our work is grounded in best practice, including our contribution to the International Plain Language Standard (ISO 24495‑1:2023) and our ongoing leadership in international plain language bodies.

Our services include transforming complex information into plain language and delivering practical plain language training.

Document development, conversion and review

We can create, edit, or review your documents so they are clear, simple, and easy to understand. Our work follows plain language principles, so your information is usable for everyone.

Plain language resource development

Need a new resource but not sure where to start? We can help.

If you have the information, research, or key messages, we can turn them into a clear, usable document that meets the needs of your audience. Whether it’s a fact sheet, guide, web content, or something else entirely, we’ll work with your information to create content that’s accurate, accessible, and easy to understand.

Plain language resource conversion

Our plain language document conversion service transforms complex documents into clear, easy-to-understand versions. This helps your customers quickly grasp key information and reduces the risk of confusion or misinterpretation.

The service includes a complete rewrite of all text into plain language, along with a list of recommended design and formatting changes to further support clarity and readability.

Plain language resource review

Our plain language document review service is a great option for organisations wanting to better understand the plain language process and be able to apply feedback to future versions of the resource. This option will include comments on text with suggested changes and justification for these changes. This will be accompanied by a list of suggested design and formatting changes.

Training and workshops

Our plain language training helps people and organisations build the skills and confidence to communicate information that is relevant and clear. Whether you're writing for the public, clients, or colleagues, our workshops will help you create content that is easy to understand and act on.

Child Safe Standards

In 2022, Enliven were engaged in by the Commission for Children and Young People to convert the Victorian Child Safe Standard into plain language.

I’m just reaching out about the plain language resources your team designed for the Commission for Children and Young People back in 2022. We just wanted to let you know the resources have been extremely well received and are very popular. So much so that we are now working on potentially translating the resources into a range of languages – so they are even more accessible for Victorians.

We’re grateful to the Enliven team for their support in developing plain language materials on primary aldosteronism.

The brochures were clear, easy to understand, and visually engaging.

The team was highly responsive, took on board our feedback, and worked collaboratively through several rounds of revision to ensure the final product met the needs of our patients.

We’re very pleased with the result and the impact it will have on patient understanding and engagement.
